Who I am
As I sit here on the couch writing this blog post chaos reigns around me. My dog is sniffing around the table for crumbs that are no doubt there; my two daughters are running around screaming with joy as they play together; and if that pile of laundry had eyes and a mouth, it would be staring me in the face screaming to just put it out of its misery. I don’t know why I think I am qualified to write articles and blogs, or why I think others might want to read them. But I also didn’t think I was qualified to raise my own garden, or milk a cow, so here I am with a good old “fake it till you make it” kind of confidence in my fingers as I type.
I am a mom. I have two spunky and carefree girls. Most times when you see them here on the homestead they are outside covered in dirt, hunting for bugs or trying to do something helpful with the garden or animals.
I am a homemaker. I try to have a home that is beautiful, functional, welcoming, and nice to live in (The key word here is try). I work to have a home where my family feels free to live their lives, and where company feels comfortable enough to open up the fridge and help themselves. I work for progress, not perfection, and as long as my home is happy then I am happy.
I am a homesteader (duh). Along with my husband, we are working to grow as much of our own food as possible on our little piece of land. We have cows, goats, chickens, and pigs, that we raise all for the purpose of self sustainability. It is very hard work, that is very rewarding. You’ll never have a meal that tastes as good as one thats been made with things youve grown with your own two hands.
And most importantly of all, I am a Christian. I promised Jesus when I gave Him my life that I would try harder everyday to put him first in everything I do. I fail everyday, but isn’t that just the miracle that is amazing grace? I’m so happy to call Jesus my dearest friend and to get to spend my life serving him.
So that’s who I am. Of course there is more that I could say, if you know me you know that I am definitely not usually a person of few words. But for now it’s nap time for my kids and this is enough. I have enjoyed writing this blog post and am excited to write more in the future. Until then, thanks for reading :).
